Brown bears are among the most powerful and unpredictable terrestrial predators, capable of switching from calm to lethal in a heartbeat. By hand feeding one, you’re doing more than taking your own life in your hands, you’re training the bear to see humans as a source of food.

Once a bear loses its natural fear of people, it becomes more likely to approach other people or communities or campsites, looking for an easy meal. When that happens, it often ends with the bear being euthanized because it's deemed a "problem animal."

A fed bear is a dead bear, plain and simple.

This type of behavior only serves to set the stage for a potential tragedy down the line - what happens if/when another person encounters this bear that now expects food? Videos of people feeding bears spread a dangerous message that it’s okay to get close and interact, yet I still come across a video like this more often than I should.

Bottom line: Wild animals don’t play by your rules, and bears aren’t looking for a friend. Feeding one is signing its death warrant, and potentially yours as well.

Note: I think it's safe to assume that the audio on this one is edited, presumably to cover up the screams, yelps, and the audible trouser browning of everyone involved.
